April 2009 Forum on the Impact of ARRA on Nonprofits
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009;
What Arizona Nonprofits Should Know
On Friday, April 17, the Alliance, along with Arizona Grantmakers Forum, Arizona Community Foundation, Community Foundation for Southern Arizona, Frontera Asset Building Network, and St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center, presented a forum for nonprofits and foundations to better understand how federal economic stimulus funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) is unfolding at national, state and local levels. The Forum was beamed via the web to 15 remote sites, including public sites in Yuma, Winkelman, Douglas, Tucson, Prescott, Flagstaff and Apache Junction.
Forum presenters included:
* Tim Delaney, National Council of Nonprofits
* Patrick McWhortor, Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits
* Jim Apperson, Arizona Governor’s Office
* Matthew Hanson, City of Goodyear
Other presenters included:
* Marissa Theisen, Arizona Grantmakers Forum
* Steve Alley, Community Foundation for Southern Arizona
* Jacky Alling, Arizona Community Foundation
As a service to those who were unable to participate in the forum, we have posted the PowerPoints delivered by Tim Delaney and Jim Apperson. We have also included a link to the recorded event, so that you can watch and listen. We will be posting a synopsis of the questions and answers, along with other information about ARRA as soon as it is compiled.
The impact of ARRA is still unfolding and as information on how the money will flow becomes available, we will be keeping you informed. Please check back frequently, and sign up for the Alliance e-newsletter to keep in touch.
PowerPoint Presentations from the Forum:
1. "American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009: Potential Funding for Nonprofit Organizations (Tim Delaney PowerPoint)
2. "American Recovery & Reinvestmant Act of 2009: Arizona's Implementation Plan" (Jim Apperson PowerPoint)
Video Recording of the Forum
The Forum was recorded using WebEx technology. When you clik on the link below, please allow some time for the WebEx window to open the video (it can take several minutes on slower Internet connections). Once the video begins, it should play smoothly with a good Internet connection. There are some minor issues with the audio early during Tim Delaney's presentation, but it was fixed shortly after he begins. Also, since Tim was connected via web from Washington D.C. we were not able to make him visible in this recording, but you can hear him and see his PowerPoint.

*Questions and Answers from the Forum. This document includes the questions and answers posed during the actual Forum. Because of the time constraints of the event, the presenters were unable to answer all of the questions posed. We have collected all of the questions and will post an additional document that will include these questions and answers as soon as possible.
