Join us for an interactive, hands-on, and engaging workshop to learn practical ways for your organization to survive and thrive during today’s economic crisis. By providing a series of real-life examples, simple exercises, along with discussion, dialogue, and debate, you will be able to inventory your organization’s strengths and assets as building blocks to identifying short-term earned income opportunities and long-term business strategies to advance your mission and increase organizational revenue.
During this session, participants will:
• Understand current nonprofit trends and what’s being done to address and overcome economic challenges • Inventory their own organizational strengths and assets • Understand importance of planning for the future: assessing where their organization is and where it wants to go—short and long-term• Discuss the realities and impact of the current economic environment• Review the balance of achieving mission and margin goals• Identify opportunities for short-term earned income• Identify effective long-term business strategies• Determine action steps toward development of short-term earned income generation and long-term business strategies
This workshop will be presented by MissionWise Consulting, a division of the Seattle-based Comprehensive Health Education Foundation. The Foundation is nationally known for its unique blend of philanthropy and advocacy as well as training, mentoring and consulting. The workshop presenters are:
Larry Clark, President & CEO of Comprehensive Health Education Foundation. He has long been passionate about social change and the need for entrepreneurial thinking and leadership in the health and human services sector. This passion led him to help establish MisssionWise in 2005, as a division of his foundation, providing consulting support to strengthen nonprofts.
Michael Oxman is a consultant to MissionWise. He was a founding member of the MissionWise team and has worked with a broad range of community-based agencies, coalitions, and foundations in the health and human service sector.
